What is ChatTree?

ChatTree is a Chrome extension that visualizes conversation trees on ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, and Kimi as interactive node-and-edge diagrams. It helps you navigate branching conversations across multiple AI chatbot platforms.

Data Collection

ChatTree does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data on external servers. Specifically:

• No analytics or tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking.
• No conversation content leaves your browser. ChatTree reads your conversations via each platform's own API (ChatGPT, Claude, DeepSeek, Kimi) solely to build the tree visualization on your own device. This data stays in your browser and is never sent to our servers.
• No accounts required. ChatTree does not require you to create an account or sign in.

Local Storage

ChatTree stores the following data locally in your browser using Chrome's storage APIs:

• Node labels — names you assign to conversation nodes (chrome.storage.local)
• License key — your Pro license key, if activated (chrome.storage.sync)
• Theme preference — your chosen color theme (chrome.storage.sync)
• Language preference — English or Chinese (chrome.storage.sync)

Data stored in chrome.storage.sync is synced across your Chrome browsers via your Google account. Data in chrome.storage.local stays on the current device.

License Validation

Pro license keys are validated entirely offline using a local checksum algorithm. No data is sent to any external server for license validation. Your license key is stored in chrome.storage.sync so it syncs across your Chrome browsers via your Google account.

Permissions

• storage — to save your labels, license key, and preferences
• activeTab — to communicate between the popup and the AI chatbot page
• Host permissions — to read conversation data and inject the tree visualization panel on these sites:
  • chatgpt.com, chat.openai.com (ChatGPT)
  • claude.ai (Claude)
  • chat.deepseek.com (DeepSeek)
  • www.kimi.com, kimi.com (Kimi)

Third-Party Services

ChatTree reads conversation data from each AI chatbot's own API (running in your browser on the platform's own page). ChatTree does not modify your conversations, does not send them to any third-party, and does not interact with any service other than the platforms you're already using:

• ChatGPT (chatgpt.com) — reads conversation data via ChatGPT's existing API.
• Claude (claude.ai) — reads conversation data via Claude's existing API.
• DeepSeek (chat.deepseek.com) — reads conversation data via DeepSeek's existing API.
• Kimi (kimi.com) — reads conversation data via Kimi's existing API.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date.
